Words of Condolence for Mother

Dear Michael and Christopher,

I am so very sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I know that Elizabeth's struggle with cancer was long and difficult, and I very much admired her for being so strong. I hope that you both will be comforted by your memories of her-she was a wonderful woman, a fabulous teacher, and a terrific friend.

In the 15 years that Elizabeth and I worked together at Fifth Street Elementary, I can barely remember a day when she didn't walk into the building with a cheery expression on her face. She was the type of person who instantly put everyone around her in a good mood as well. When I first started teaching at the school, I felt so unprepared and often went to Elizabeth for guidance, as she was such a well-respected and knowledgeable staff member. She was always there to share teaching tips and strategies for organizing my classroom. Elizabeth cared very much about her students and was easily one of the most popular teachers at Fifth Street. I learned a great deal from her on a professional level and I was also thrilled to have her as a friend.

Elizabeth and I always made a point to stay in contact with each other after she retired from teaching. I knew that I could still count on her for advice, and she in turn loved getting the latest updates on school happenings. I know it was very hard for Elizabeth when your father passed and she became ill, but she never lost her courage.

Please accept my deepest sympathies,

Sally Martin
